FileMaker- This little one screen tool has a multi line text box you can paste a list of words or phrases, or book chapter titles, or web page title names, you get the idea. You also specify the file extension type, either .txt or htm or .doc for that matter and what it does is go through the list and makes a file for each line of text, with the text as the file name, prefixed by a number and a dash, so, "My File" becomes 01 - My File.txt |

Writing Bidder- I'm a freelance writer and write a lot of articles for magazines and Internet web content. Often, I bid on projects like this: "We need ten 500 word articles on the subject of dog training, we will supply the titles (Use file maker if you get the job). This little program lets you price your bid. You input the number of articles, the number of words per and the rate per word in cents. It also asks if it's a rush job and adds 10 % to the bid price. Press enter and it does the math, gives you a total word count, a first cost and bumps the first cost up by 20 % to account for the fact that my agent takes 15 % so when I multiply the 20 % bumped up number by .85 which will be my take, I get just about, slightly more than I want. A GREAT tool if you bid on writing jobs. |
